My first post: Resistance 2 Is Not A Good Game

OK so I have a blog now I guess.  Will anyone read it?  Probably not, but hey, I may get at least one reader so I might as well try it out.  I’m not sure what I will be writing about for the most part.  Everything will probably be video game related since that is what interests me, but if something else does at the time I decide to write something then I will write about that instead.

So what inspired me to write my first post?  That would be Resistance 2 for PS3, which I just recently rented.  I must say, it was one of the more disappointing rental experiences I have ever had.   Why was this?  Well it’s because of a stupid mistake made by the developers: they removed the cooperative campaign!  Why the fuck would they decide to do this?  The first Resistance game was not really that good.  It was a launch title, the graphics were not entirely spectacular, the art direction for the most part was stupid, and it was pretty much just an average game.  However, it did have the option to play through the campaign split-screen with a friend.  So my roommate and I rented it and had a pretty fun time.  An average game is turned in to a fairly fun game if you are allowed to play through it with your friend on the couch and just screw around and have a good time.

Now Resistance 2 is out, and I didn’t really want to buy it because it still just looked alright, pretty much like every other game.  I figured I would rent it and play through it with my friend again for a fun couple of days.  But wait, what’s this?  The campaign is only for one player!  So the developers decided it would be a good idea to remove a feature, which just so happens to be pretty much the only good feature, from their sequel!  WTF??  Instead of being able to play through the actual campaign with your friend, you get to play through a “coop” campaign.  This consists of a paragraph or two of story before a bland mission which consists of fighting wave after wave of enemies.  There is no real story, none of the huge boss fights from the campaign, nothing to make it actually feel like a campaign.  There is a class system, you can level up, and you can play with 8 people, but this isn’t a coop campaign, it is just a multiplayer mode you can play against the computer.  I guess it is kind of cool they tried to make a new mode, but did they seriously need to remove the cooperative campaign?  Well that is about the end of that rant and also my first post.  Hopefully I can stick with this and consistently update my opinions of things and shit.
